March is National Nutrition Month

March is an exciting time to promote health and nutrition!  The LAUSD Food Services Branch is proud to once again celebrate National School Breakfast Week, as well as, help facilitate participation in our first National Nutrition Month.  We’ve joined forces with other departments within LAUSD and reached out to key organizations on the forefront of nutrition and wellness.  You’ve taken the first step in visiting our website and we hope you’ll join us in building healthy lifestyles in our students and communities by incorporating some of the ideas, activities, materials, and resources provided.

National School Breakfast Week

This year’s theme is “Fuel Your Imagination” and we’re blasting off the celebration with 5 new menu items created by Executive Chef Mark Baida.  Each school is encouraged to participate in the Food Services Branch poster contest where cash prizes will be awarded.  Posters, flyers, activity sheets and menu signs are available as a resource.

National Nutrition Month

The collaborative team has put together a full array of learning activities, physical activities, awareness and resource material.  Everything from jump rope activities, door-decorating contest, posters, nutritional games on the web etc. are available and best of all it FREE! Many of the resources are available in Spanish.  We’ve placed them together to make it easier to access and utilize.  Click on National Nutrition Month and your student’s path to healthy eating and improved wellness are on their way.
